REI Low Light Hiker Socks

With the growing popularity of Merino Wool, it’s natural to start a long term review on the REI Merino Wool Low Light Hiker socks.  With all the natural benefits of Merino Wool, they blend in some Nylon (20%) and Lycra (2%) to help make a nice snug fit around the entire foot and ankle.  The sock feels like the thickness of most mid-weight socks, not bulky like some of the heavier more extreme socks.  This makes these over the ankle cut socks great for spring and fall hikes.

First Impressions: As we start this long term test, the feel of the sock is plenty soft, and not itchy like one may expect.  The sock does hug your foot nicely, and feels like it would insulate very nicely.  The toe-box seems larger than other socks, time will tell if this leads to a problem or not (it feels comfortable now, am wondering whether they will be bothersome getting bunched up in shoes or not).
